SEOUL -- Easternlight Films, the Asian label of sales agent Arclight Films, has acquired rights to helmer Royston Tan's "881," a Singapore musical comedy doing boffo local biz.
Pic, which will screen in the Pusan Film Festival's new gala section in October, probes the glitz and infighting of Singapore's Getai music subculture.
"881," was produced by Zhao Wei Films and MediaCorp Raintree Pictures in association with Scorpio East Pictures, the Media Development Authority of Singapore and Infinite Frameworks.
Pic has cumed $1.21 million in three weeks in Singapore, according to Scorpio East, topping the box office in its third week.
Easternlight will rep the pic worldwide outside Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.
