Easternlight Films acquires Legendary Assassin

Arclight Films' Asian label Easternlight Films has picked up worldwide rights to Wu Jing's action film Legendary Assassin at Filmart.

The deal, which excludes Hong Kong and China, is the first between Easternlight and Paco Wong's production company Gold Label Pictures from Hong Kong.

The $4m film marks the directorial debut of hot action actor Wu who is co-directing with Li Chung Chi. Wu also heads the cast along with Alex Fong and newcomer Celina Jade. Read more >

Easternlight buys rights to '881'

Easternlight Films, the Asian label of sales agent Arclight Films, has acquired rights to helmer Royston Tan's "881," a Singapore musical comedy doing boffo local biz.

Pic, which will screen in the Pusan Film Festival's new gala section in October, probes the glitz and infighting of Singapore's Getai music subculture.

"881," was produced by Zhao Wei Films and MediaCorp Raintree Pictures in association with Scorpio East Pictures, the Media Development Authority of Singapore and Infinite Frameworks. Read more >

'Kingdom' comes to Arclight Films

Arclight Films, the L.A. and Australia-based sales agent has picked up international sales rights to "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon," one of the biggest Asian movies of the year.

Arclight will rep the film from Cannes onwards under its Easternlight label.

The $20 million epic actioner is now lensing in China with Daniel Lee Yan Kong ("A Fighter's Blues," "Black Mask") as helmer. Cast is headed by Andy Lau and Maggie Q, with Sammo Hung, Rongguang Yu, Lung Ti, Charlie Yeung and Andy On. Read more >
