Jim Caviezel taking 'Long Weekend'

Jim Caviezel will star in Arclight Films' remake of 1978 Australian suspense thriller "Long Weekend."

Arclight topper Gary Hamilton and Nigel Odell will produce and Jamie Blanks ("Urban Legend," "Storm Warning") will direct. Lensing is scheduled to commence in Australia in mid-November.

Everett de Roche script centers on a young couple on a camping trip who disregard the local environment by shooting guns and wounding animals until the wildlife starts to hit back.

The original film was directed by Colin Eggleston and starred John Hargreaves and Briony Behets. Darclight, the genre division of Arclight Films, will handle worldwide distribution and sales of the new film.
