'Red Hill' falls to SPWAG
- Contemporary western directed by Patrick Hughes

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has acquired all U.S. distribution rights to Patrick Hughes' neo-western thriller "Red Hill," starring Ryan Kwanten, Steve Bisley and Tom E. Lewis.

Produced by Al Clark and written, produced and directed by Hughes, the Australia-set film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.

No date has been set for the film's release.

SPWAG's Scott Shooman, vp of acquisitions and productions, and Dan Primozic, vp of business affairs, brokered the deal with Arclight Films' Mark Lindsay, president, sales and acquisitions, and Gary Hamilton, co-chairman and managing director.

"Hughes has contemporized the revenge western with such style and adrenaline that we jumped at the opportunity to distribute such a bad ass movie," Shooman said.

Hughes is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
